Day Twenty Three

Sunday

Despite not working throughout the weeks, today does feel like a Sunday, has that Sunday kind of feel to it.

After our first night in the new house, we got up and went to the football. I'm happy to report the traffic noise outside our bedroom is bearable, it was a bit cold but we used our heater and all was good.

We took the metro/tram which is right next to house, the tram is no more than a minute from our house and that takes us straight into China town and onto central station in less than 20 mins. Its about 1.40 Sterling each way which is not bad I think.

We then nipped on a bus to the Sydney Cricket Ground and met the rest of the others. We also got to meet the Engels mum again. Nola is a great and so friendly, she is the mum of Pru, Michael, Ben and Alex, she is a proper old school aussie. It was good to catch up, although Ive only met her once!

The game was good, I'm still oblivious to the rules of AFL, I still struggle to grasp concept of playing on a round pitch and the weirdness of people who's sole job is to run on the pitch mid game and pass messages to the players from the coach, people bringing drinks on and the fact people in the team come on and off with no permission from the ref.

Anyway the Swans won which was all good.

We walked back via the pub for a quick drink then headed to Bill and Carols to use internet. We've decided to stay here tonight as we have to collect a washing machine locally at 9am so was no point heading back to Glebe.

Tomorrow is stepping up job search and sorting out utilities/internet etc for house.

Final interesting fact for the week, all the petrol stations hike up petrol costs at weekends by about 15 cents a litre, no idea why, just another aussie quirkyness to get used to!
