Day Seven Hundred and Seventy Nine

A lazy morning in Willoughby then Kate and I drove over to Alexandria to Pru, Paul and Bens house. We picked them up as well as the large suitcase they bought us as a wedding present and headed over to the Botany for lunch. It was nice to be in Newtown again and good to see them all. Caroline and Mike were also there.

Soon enough it was time to leave and we headed back to Willoughby to pack and then got a lift over to the airport.

Had a good flight back to Brissie on Virgin Australia, the all new branded Virgin Blue.

Taxi back to Teneriffe after a bit of a wait at the airport and then Skype to folks and soon enough off to bed.

Day Seven Hundred and Seventy Eight

Saturday

A nice relaxing day around Willoughby with a trip to Chatswood to do some shopping. Kate was kindly bought some clothes for work by her mum so she's all set for next week.

In the evening we went out for lovely meal at a restaurant called Bombe Alaska on Willoughby Rd to celebrate Carols retirement next week. A nice little restaurant and we ended up being the last in there at 10pm.

Headed home with full bellies and a nice time out. We skyped the UK to say hello too.

Day Seven Hundred and Seventy Five

May be delay in blogs for next few days.

Sunday 24 July 2011

Day Seven Hundred and Seventy Two

Awoke to news that Amy Winehouse was found dead in London. Not super surprising, the girl was a mess by all accounts. Such a tragic waste of talent though, however cant help but feel it was bound to happen, shame she didn't take the help she could so easily afford.

A nice day in Brisbane, we walked to the powerhouse in the afternoon and hung out drinking and watching the world go by.

Spoke to Kates folks in Willoughby this evening.

Day Seven Hundred and Seventy One

Shopping at Chermside this morning the joyous task of visiting the Medicare office to change address and get a new medicare card. All went a lot quicker than I anticipated.

We went for a walk during the afternoon.

Sunday 10 July 2011

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty Eight

A beautiful sunny day on the gold coast today. For the middle of winter it's no hardship having to slap the sun cream on and walk along the beach getting hot.

We got up late and had a brunch at Surfers Paradise. We then drove south for a bit and took a walk along the beach which was nice.

Made our way back to Brisbane, it's so good the gold coast is less than an hour in the car.

Dis some shopping and Skyped folks in evening.

Oh yeah and our wedding picture appears in the Sunday Telegraph today.

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty Seven

Saturday

We drove to the Gold Coast just after lunch, and after a bit of mis direction from the Sat Nav we ended up at the Marriott at Surfer Paradise

http://www.marriott.com.au/hotels/travel/oolsp-surfers-paradise-marriott-resort-and-spa/

Was very nice hotel. We took a walk along the beach and then took a taxi to the Metricon Stadium for the AFL game between Sydney Swans and Gold Coast Suns.

Not a bad stadium but more thought could be given to the facilities especially when its cols. A 40 minute wait in the queue for a cuppa isn't fun when theres 20 plus people stood a ta bar not 20 meters away doing nothing.

The Swans won.

We took the free bus back to Surfers and headed off to bed.

Friday 8 July 2011

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty Six

Friday

The first day off of four, I'm taking some time of in Lieu and having Friday and Monday off. However did need to drive to Kenmore at lunchtime to drop off some kit which we had picked up at the event which did not belong to us.

Kate and I had lunch at the Italian Deli in New Farm which was nice. We went to the bank and charged Kates name to Steward, all good. Still very impressed with the friendly service you get in the Commonwealth Bank, nothing like the poor service you get in London.

Cooked a Risotto for dinner.

We are off away for a night tomorrow on the Gold Coast and will be going to the Sydney Swans game at the Metricon.

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty Five

Thursday

A busier day on the office spent mainly doing de-brief activities, talking about what went well and not so well about the event.

In the evening lots of emails around house sale in London and a quiet night in.

Wednesday 6 July 2011

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty Four

Happy Birthday Hannah

Another quiet day in the office, hard to get motivated to sort through yet more boxes of event equipment, but it has to be done.

Lots of noise in media about State of Origin, some rugby league game between NSW and QLD. QLD won it.

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty Three

Tuesday

A quiet morning spent in the office, there was only 2 of us in. In the afternoon did some more Kennards time sorting kit out. Kate helped me out too which was great.

Not much else to report. Weather still nice in Brissie although a bit colder now.

Monday 4 July 2011

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty Two

Kate and I spent the day in Kennards, we had to move out of one unit and move all the Brisbane gear into a new smaller unit so it can sit dormant for the next 9 months.

Still lots to sort out in the main unit before shipping kit to Sydney and Melbourne.

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty One

Sunday

A quiet day around the apartment, we went for a walk along the river in the afternoon. A quiet evening in later on.

Saturday 2 July 2011

Day Seven Hundred and Fifty

Saturday

A morning of tidying up the flat followed by a trip to the Teneriffe festival. Was much like a street market with lots of food stalls, jewellery stalls etc. There were some stages for live music but we didn't catch much of that.

Not a bad little event, the road closures were a bit of a pain but no big dramas.

Was interesting to look at it form an events perspective, funnily it was same marquee and toilet contractor we used at TW.

In the afternoon we spent some time working on job applications fro Kate, plus some shopping at Coles.

Watched the Swans get beaten by Adelaide in the AFL this evening.

Friday 1 July 2011

Day Seven Hundred and Forty Nine

Friday

A very quiet morning in the office, only 2 of us in there. Knocked off at lunchtime and went shopping with Kate to Chermside. Got a load of documents certified by the JP. We then nipped home and then off to post office to post document sot UK solicitor for house sale and other things.

Came home and had a relaxed evening.

Tomorrow we'll check out Teneriffe Festival.

Day Seven Hundred and Forty Eight

Thursday

I spent the morning driving around doing deliveries and pick up's after hiring a van. Picked up my two 1000l water tanks form Walkabout Creek first thing. had a good chat with Park Rangers while I was there about the event which was good.

tried to drop a load of cardboard at a recycling place which wasn't there when I got there, plus return bread crates, that was to a bakers in a shopping centre and there was no way I was lugging them on my own so took them back to Kennards.

Spent the afternoon at the office before heading home at 5pm.

Skyped Adelaide and Sydney in the evening.

Day Seven Hundred and Forty Seven

Wednesday

A day spent in Kennards all day doing a major sort out of TW Kit. Kate spent the day with me helping which was great, was nice to have her company and get her out of the flat for the day.

A quiet night at home.
