Day One Thousand Three Hundred and Twenty Three

Friday 25th January

Walked 11km through the Australian bush today. Not for the fun of it but for work, to measure parts of the trail where data is a bit sketchy.

Started at 8am and walked 1.6km of Section 8, then 1.7km of section 7. the did a few bits of measuring around Checkpoint 5 in Davidson. Then went all the way up to Section 2 of trail and decided not to try and walk another 8km in under 2 hours as we had a schedule to meet other people and we would have been under pressure to finish on time.

Drove to new Checkpoint 2 site, tested data signal and then met representative from parks and a key volunteer and we walked 1.7km into bush to one of our remote junctions on the trail to discuss that. We then walked the 1.7km back out of the bush.

A very hot day to be walking but kept drinking all day.

Got home about 6.30 with the start of one or two blisters.

Had some food and headed to bed at about 9.30pm whilst others watched Andy Murray in semi final beat Federer.
