Day Eight Hundred and Twenty Nine

Monday

Walked into work, really hazy in Brisbane this morning, there is 340 bush fires around the area so the smoke is hanging around.

Really quiet day at work and came home not long after 4 o'clock.

Drove and picked up Kate form work and we went shopping.

Came home and we have watched the X factor, just as cack as the UK version.

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty Eight

Sunday

A glorious day in Mooloolaba. After getting up we all went to the Surf Life Saving Club for buffet breakfast, was lovely, full English.

Headed home and we all hit the beach, not more than 100m from the apartment.

Went in the sea for 20 minutes or so, was bloody cold getting in but once in was very pleasant. Hung out on the beach for a while before heading back to the apartment for showers etc.

Managed to fall asleep for an hour on the lounger on the balcony and was woken up by Kate before we all went out for a light late lunch.

Soon enough it was time to head back to reality and we drove down the Bruce Highway very slowly in traffic and got home at about 7pm

Headed to bed early as we were both knackered.

A very pleasant weekend in Mooloolaba.

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty Seven

Saturday

Got up and we drove to Eumundi Markets

http://www.eumundimarkets.com.au/

These were about 35 minutes north of Mooloolaba. Great markets with all kinds of things from clothing to art to gifts with live music dotted around the market.

Kate bought a lovely dress.

We headed back to Mooloolaba after a spot of lunch at the Eumundi Deli.

Kate, Carol and myself took a long walk along the beach in the afternoon.

In the evening we headed to Buderim to meet Helen, Carols friend of many years. We had good conversation and laughter over dinner at Harrys. Great restaurant run by a Scotsman.

www.harrysonbuderim.com.au

We dropped Helen home and headed back to the apartment and bed.

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty Six

Friday

A quiet day at work, I then walked home, picked the car up and then picked Kate up and we headed north to Mooloolaba. A great spot on the sunshine coast.

We were met by Bill and Carol in the apartment they had and settled in to watch the swans game. They lost and are therefore out of the finals.

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty Five

Thursday

Standard day at work, not much to report!

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty Four

Wednesday

All was going well getting ready for work as Kate was in the shower when the fire alarm in the building started. Another false alarm we thought, but it kept going so quickly got dressed and headed outside. No sign of fire brigade but a commotion around the hairdressers in the ground floor, lots of smoke and water coming out from above and below door. Seems the place was actually on fire.

Fire brigade showed up and smashed their way in through the expensive glass door. I ended up doing some traffic control as stupid motorists were trying to drive over their hoses.

Seems the sprinklers did their job well and stopped an inferno.

After about 40 minutes we could go back in. Place smells of smoke a bit

Drove Kate to work as buses were shot then, and headed back to have shower myself and walk to work.

Uneventful day at work and then home for dinner and Skype with folks.

Pics of fire brigade to follow, my phone is being dodgy and not letting me transfer them to mac for some reason.

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty Three

Tuesday

Walked to work, another busy day setting up meetings with the council and state emergency services to talk about 2012.

Walked home and met Kate at Coles and got some stuff for dinner.

Quiet night in front of TV.

Monday, 12 September 2011

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty Two

Monday

Walked to work, a quiet day to be honest.

Walked home and then we all went out for dinner at Eves to celebrate Bill and Carols last night in Brisbane.

Cold here today.

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty One

Sunday

A lazy morning and then we met Bill and Carol for lunch at the Powerhouse.

In the afternoon we went to Mt Coot-tha to have a look at the view, I walked a section of trail and the others picked me up the other end in the car.

Came home for dinner and Skyped folks and a quick game of Scrabble and then bed.

Day Eight Hundred and Twenty

Saturday

Up early and we all headed to Crows Nest (via Esk) to see Kate's Aunt and Uncle. We had a good drive up stopping at a bakery in Esk and then drove about 25km on a gravel road, a slight detour from the better driving roads but the way the Sat Nav suggested. Had a few branches hit the car but no damage done.

A nice day was spent with Jan and Kevin and soon enough it was time to head home.

Once home we got fish and chips in and watched the Swans game on TV which they won, putting them through to the next round of the finals.

Day Eight Hundred and Nineteen

A good day firstly spending the morning in the park with the rangers, including some tricky wheel driving and avoiding some landslides which remain from January floods at work doing permit applications and 2012 planning. In the evening we met Bill and Carol and attempted to go for Italian at

http://beccofino.com.au/

but that was busy and we would have to wait for a table which may have been outside (it was cold here today)

So we jumped in car and ended up here

A nice meal but way too much food so came home with a full belly.

Day Eight Hundred and Eighteen

Thursday

Walked to work, I'm sure it's warmer in the mornings than it is in the evenings walking home, certainly feels warm by the time I get into the office at 9am.

Good day at work starting all things 2012 proper. Tomorrow I have a day out in the park with the QPWS rangers measuring off new sections of trail with GPS.

In the evening here we had dinner at Bill and Carols apartment and played scrabble....Bill won.

Day Eight Hundred and Seventeen

Wednesday

A long day at work writing reports solidly, all done now thankfully!

In the evening Bill and Carol came over for dinner which was nice.

Warming up already in Brisbane.

Day Eight Hundred and Sixteen

Tuesday

Kate had another good day at work and I walked myself into work this morning. Spent all day writing reports on 2011 event, got 2 more days of it and then the 2011 event is put to bed.

In the evening we went down the road to see where Bill and Carol were staying and then went for some dinner at the London Club which is just opposite where they are staying.

Was very nice to have their company up here in Queensland.

Day Eight Hundred and Fifteen

Monday

Kate started a new temporary job today, so I drove her there for her first day. Drove myself to work after that and spent most of day finalising report on 2011 event.

Headed home at 5.15 and Kate arrived home soon after. Day for her seemed to go well although most of the day was shadowing other people.

Did some housework this evening as the in laws arrive in Brisbane tomorrow.

Day Eight Hundred and Fourteen

Sunday

Happy Birthday to Chris, Kates brother.

We spent a big part of the day out walking to measure some new parts of the trail for 2012. Kate and I walked about 4km so not too far, the weather wasn't great and we got caught in the rain for a while. Below are some pics of the walk.

We had lunch at Walkabout Creek and went through the wildlife centre which was cool.
We came home and spent a lot of time working on photo order for our wedding video that the Alv is putting together for us.

Day Eight Hundred and Thirteen

Saturday

A relaxing day at home, we did some food shopping and got some lunch in. The afternoon was spent watching the AFL game, the Swans beat the Brisbane Lions. In the evening we skyped the UK and had dinner in.

Day Eight Hundred and Twelve

Friday

I worked at home today to get to get more of the 2011 evaluation report done. In the evening Kate and I went to Liquid for food and drinks. It turned into a long night with lots of drinks and some cheesy 80s tunes playing in the pub. Was a good night out indeed.

Day Eight Hundred and Eleven

Thursday

A relatively quiet day at work and quiet night at home tonight

Not much to report for today!

Day Eight Hundred and Ten

Walked into work, past the building site where the builders were all out on strike for some reason, just like living in London going past a tube strike picket line!

Fairly easy day at work and then walked home at 4.30pm.

We heard from the estate agent tonight, our tenants have given notice on the flat to move out later in month, buyer is keen to proceed quicker which is lucky for us.
